Ecritures Silencieuses or Silent Writings, a strikingly enchanting and meditative encounter between ancient writings and contemporary artistic creativity, is on show in Espace Louis Vuitton till 23 August. An exhibit too beautiful to be missed.

The inspiration comes from three mysterious tablets. They are silent because their glyphic writing - in Rongo Rongo, the dialect of the aboriginal people of the Easter Islands (a tiny island off South-America), the Rapa Nui - has yet to be decoded. The tablets, presented for the first time outside the Vatican Museum, serve as the inspiration for 15 contemporary artists whose works propose different perspectives on the themes of Impression, Trace, Symbol and Writing.
